Elements of high quality software services.
I approach complex technology problems as both an engineer and a systems thinker. I combine architectural design and agile software development praxis to build secure, interoperable, and extensible systems. My architectural experience is grounded in implementation: I have built and maintained production services, designed interoperable infrastructure, and developed working prototypes for mission critical software in complex environments with millions of users.
I have over 17 years of experience working closely with stakeholders across organizational boundaries to translate domain needs into technical requirements and build practical and effective solutions within real-world technical, operational, and regulatory constraints. My experience spans high-volume international payment networks, national public health agencies, cross-border data-sharing environments, and community-centered educational software.
Beyond just building software, I provide end-to-end technical leadership. I connect stakeholder needs and problem definition to system design, governance, and operational practices to deliver solutions that can evolve as requirements change.
Case Studies
Expanding Payments Infrastructure to International Payment Methods
Developed a dynamically configurable reverse proxy to extend Amazon’s payment architecture and support asynchronous notifications from alternative payment processors.
Created a reusable integration layer with a shared endpoint, dynamically configurable routing, and support for both text-based (SOAP/REST) and binary protocols (ISO 8583), integrating with Amazon’s existing message translation service to form an extensible API gateway.
Enabled Amazon’s launch in Brazil with installment payments and provided a secure, reliable, and reusable infrastructure to support expansion into additional markets and alternative payment methods
Building a Distributed Educational Technology App in Cameroon
Developed a distributed, cloud-based practice exam application on AWS that delivered multiple-choice quizzes to high school students in Cameroon through SMS and WhatsApp, making exam preparation accessible without computers or reliable internet connectivity.
Designed the messaging workflows to manage question delivery, process responses, and maintain multi-step interaction state across service instances using Amazon DynamoDB. Integrated third-party SMS and WhatsApp gateways while addressing challenges such as toll-free responses, messaging delays, delivery failures, and unexpected user messages.
Deployed the application to more than 2,000 students across nearly two dozen schools over two years, helping students assess their knowledge, identify learning gaps, and engage in collaborative study.
Creating a Platform for a Consistent Payments Experience
Developed a reusable, configurable web widget service for Amazon Payments Platform that standardized checkout and payment method management across properties including Amazon Music, Audible, IMDbPro, and the retail website.
Designed a modular architecture that supported different business requirements while maintaining a consistent customer experience, allowing clients to customize functionality through configuration rather than building and maintaining separate interfaces.
Enabled new payment methods and localities to be introduced through configuration alone, reducing duplicated development and maintenance effort for Payments Platform clients. By consolidating independently developed payment experiences into shared platform capabilities, the service improved consistency, reduced security exposure, and provided a foundation for future business expansion.
