In many sub-Saharan nations like Cameroon, a baby boom is coming of age. While this increase in the population of working-age adults represents a opportunity for Cameroon’s economy and future, in reality, many young adults suffer from unemployment and underemployment. This is despite many young adults spending significant effort, time, and expense towards gaining a baccalauréat diploma.
PICHNET engages in research to understand the aspirations of young adults in Cameroon, their visions for their own futures, and the potential for interventions to support them on this journey. PICHNET has developed and operated summer programs focused on a holistic approach to capacity development for young adults. Finally, PICHNET engages in policy and communications advocacy work to reach policymakers and the general public.
